All the Team at Croft Hall

We are a five-partner practice, providing care for approximately 8,000 patients with a practice area that extends across the whole of Torquay. We employ a full range of professional medical and clerical staff and our large, spacious premises enable us to house additional services, some of which are detailed on this website.

Croft Hall Medical Practice is a friendly, innovative, up-to-date and fully computerised surgery, which has been at its present location since 1995. The building was formerly the St John of God Nursing Home and, prior to that, its history stretches back to being a hotel, a presbytery and a private residence. It is a large Victorian villa with pleasant gardens, parking and ground floor access for disabled people.

Based in the heart of Torquay, close to the local bus and train station, there are three waiting areas available for patients, which provide a comfortable waiting space. There are clinical rooms downstairs to provide easy access for patients in wheelchairs or with pushchairs or prams. The practice building is also served by a lift which provides access to the first and second floor of the building.

Health Conditions A to Z

On the Day Team….On the move (OTDT)

From the 2nd October, we will be relocating our emergency appointment service from Abbey Road to new purpose-designed premises within Torbay Hospital. We believe we will be able to provide a better service to patients from our new hospital site, sharing space with Devon Doctors, which provides out-of-hours GP services.

The Abbey Road team will operate on the same basis at the new site, seeing only those patients from Chelston Hall Surgery and Croft Hall Medical Practice who are offered a same-day face-to-face consultation. For many patients, the hospital will be easier to access than Abbey Road, but patients who turn up at the new GP unit without an appointment will not be seen – they will be referred back to their normal practice to make an appointment.

A newly refurbished GP Unit has been developed at Level 2 Outpatients and can be accessed by the main outpatient entrance and following the signs to The GP Unit.  There is parking available in Shiphay or if you prefer to park in the Hospital, the nearest car parks to the main outpatient’s entrance are car parks A, D and E.

The GP Unit is a purpose designed facility where patients will have access to more services including phlebotomy, on site pharmacy and acute medical physicians.

We are proud of the same-day service we have provided from Abbey Road and the excellent work of our staff who deliver it. We believe that this move will be in the best interests of our patients.

If you have any concerns regarding this move, please contact the Patient Experience Team on 01803 652578 or email patientfeedback.sdtccg@nhs.net
